The Writing Circle
Every Friday, five women meet to discuss their writing lives. Isabel, returning home, where the writing circle is to meet, is attacked in her car at gunpoint and raped. However, she manages to turn the gun on her attacker, shooting him dead. In coping with this shocking killing, the disposal of the body and the subsequent breakdown and recovery of Isabel, we learn about the intersecting personal lives of the women in Isabel’s writing circle – Isabel, Carmen, Jazz, Beauty and Amina, who narrate this tragic and powerful story in their individual styles. Then the body is discovered, and the identity of the attacker is revealed…
